Customers say
Five-star drywall work across Metro Detroit.
Had a big hole from a plumbing access in our Corktown flat. They patched, textured to match, and you cannot find the repair after paint.
Full basement hang and Level 4 finish. Crew was on schedule, cleaned up daily, and passed our painter's walkthrough first try.
Converted our living room from orange peel to smooth walls. Long job but the quote was honest and the result is flawless.
Basement flood cut and rebuild after a sump failure. Documented everything for insurance and matched the ceiling texture.
Retail build-out on Main Street — metal framing and drywall done in phases while we stayed open weekends.
Nail pops and corner cracks throughout our ranch. Flat price, same-day start, ready for primer in two days.
Removed popcorn ceilings in three bedrooms and skimmed smooth. Protected floors and furniture — no dust disaster.
Our builder's drywall sub fell through. BH stepped in, finished hang and tape on our new build ahead of trim.
Replaced water-stained drop ceiling tiles and realigned the grid in our office suite. In and out in one day.
Partition walls for a medical tenant — fire-rated assembly coordinated with our GC. Inspection passed clean.
Kitchen demo left huge patches. They matched our knockdown perfectly — even I can't see the seams.
Insulated and drywalled our attached garage. Clean edges at the house door and fire separation done right.

For repairs and small patches we often book same-day or next-day when a crew is in your area. Larger hang and finish jobs are scheduled from a written estimate. Call (313) 236-4558 with photos for the fastest quote.
Most rooms are Level 4 — taped joints, screws covered, ready for flat or eggshell paint. Rooms with big windows, gloss paint, or wallpaper need Level 5 (full skim). We note this on every estimate so your painter does not reject the walls on walkthrough.
Yes. We take a sample, test orange peel, knockdown, or skip trowel on a board, and blend repairs so the patch disappears after paint. Older Metro Detroit homes often mix smooth additions with textured main floors — we plan transitions so they are not visible at doorways.
By scope: square footage, ceiling height, finish level, texture, and access (occupied vs empty). Repairs are usually a minimum visit plus labor and materials. Commercial work is bid from plans or a site walk with phased schedules for occupied buildings.
Yes. We sub hang/finish crews to GCs, handle tenant-improvement drywall, and invoice on net terms for repeat clients. COIs and W-9 available on request.
After drying is confirmed, we flood-cut, remove damaged board, hang replacement, finish, and texture-match. We document square footage and photos for adjusters. Do not close walls until moisture readings are in range — we can coordinate with your restoration company's timeline.
Drywall looks simple until corners, fire ratings, or occupied spaces are involved. Licensed & insured contractors carry liability and workers comp — protecting you if something goes wrong. BH Drywall Metro Detroit puts scope, price, and schedule in writing before work starts.
Buyer's guide
How to hire a drywall contractor in Metro Detroit
A good drywall bid is specific. A bad one is a single number with no finish level, no scope, and no start date. Use this checklist before you sign.
1. Verify license and insurance. Ask for proof of general liability and workers comp. For commercial jobs, request a certificate naming your building or GC as additional insured.
2. Define finish level. Level 4 vs Level 5 changes labor cost more than board cost. Put it in the quote.
3. Texture match in writing. "Match existing" should name the style (orange peel, knockdown, smooth) and include a sample board when possible.
4. Separate hang, finish, and paint. Know who primes. Many paint failures are skipped primer on new mud — clarify before close-in.
5. Schedule and access. Occupied homes need daily cleanup and dust control. Commercial TI needs phased work and after-hours if the suite stays open.
6. Change orders. Extra soffits, niches, or fire caulking should be written and signed — not verbal add-ons at invoice time.
BH Drywall Metro Detroit provides written estimates, serves Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties, and answers questions at (313) 236-4558. Compare two bids using the same finish level and scope — then decide on crew quality and schedule, not just the lowest number.
Glossary
Drywall terms, explained in plain language
Whether you are comparing bids in Warren or planning a basement finish in Livonia, these are the terms BH Drywall Metro Detroit uses on every estimate — so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Hang — screwing gypsum board to studs or ceilings. "Hang only" means board is up but not taped or finished.
Level 4 / Level 5 finish — Level 4 is standard paint-ready in normal light. Level 5 adds a skim coat for critical lighting, glossy paint, or wallpaper.
Mud / compound — joint compound used to tape seams, cover screws, and skim walls.
Tape — paper or mesh embedded in mud over joints and inside corners.
Texture — orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel, or smooth. We match existing texture from a sample board before blending repairs.
Flood cut — horizontal cut in drywall after water damage, typically 12–24" above the wet line, before drying and replacement.
Metal stud framing — non-load-bearing partition walls common in commercial TI and basement builds.
Punch list — final walkthrough items — nail pops, corner bead, touch-up mud — before paint.
